Changing her stand on Prime Minister, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, in a shocking move shifted the focus of her darted attacks from PM Narendra Modi, who she has been targeting for years, to BJP President Amit Shah.

The West Bengal Chief Minister in a TV interview said, "I favour Narendra Modi, not Amit Shah. I don't blame the PM. Why should I blame him? His party should take care of it."

Focusing on the "environment of super dictatorship" the BJP president was creating in the country, Banerjee criticised Amit Shah for meddling in government affairs. She said, "Everybody is scared. Super dictatorship is going on. How can a party president take a meeting of ministers? Who is the PM, Modi or Shah."

Banerjee said, "Why are we facing problems today? I do not want to blame the prime minister but his party should take care. Why is his party creating problems for everyone?"

The West Bengal Chief Minister also took time to praise former BJP Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee saying, "He is also a BJP man... but he was very balanced and impartial. We worked under him and never faced any problem."

The TMC supremo also sent a message to the BJP saying, "The Opposition parties have come on a platform and there will be change (at the Centre) in 2019. We are waiting for the change... No front has been formed as yet, but the opposition parties have come on a platform and have started working. Wait for six months. Things will be clear."

While the sudden change in Mamata may have surprised the opposition, given she is coming out at the upcoming leader of the opposition after JD(U) Chief Nitish Kumar left the opposition and joined hands with the BJP. Her final statement of 'opposition parties coming together' most certainly was a relief for the opposition.
