Just a month before Lok Sabha elections there have been surprising developments on the political front. Leaders of several political parties have shifted sides. It would be thrilling to see the effects on the upcoming results.

Purely from the perspective of vote-bank politics, big parties understand that keeping the big names under their banner would help them shield support from the public.

Shatrughan Sinha on Friday hinted that he would not be working under Narendra Modi anymore, tweeting an Urdu verse that implied the Prime Minister may not have dearth of admirers but the dissident BJP leader would not be one of them.

"Mohabbat karne wale kam na honge, teri mehfil mein lekin ham na honge (you may perhaps have no dearth of admirers, but I would not be among them)," the Patna Sahib MP tweeted.

The Samajwadi Party on Saturday announced the name of it’s one more candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. A party release issued said that Shyama Charan Gupta who was earlier the BJP MP from Allahabad will be its candidate from Banda Lok Sabha seat.

Top JDS Leader Danish Ali Joined BSP

JD(S) general secretary Danish Ali joined Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the presence of BSP All India General Secretary Satish Mishra, ahead of Lok Sabha elections in Lucknow on Saturday.

Ali had, in fact, been the face of the JD(S) in Delhi for over 22 years.

Assam BJP MP Ram Prasad Sarmah Quit Party

In a jolt to the BJP in Assam, its sitting MP from Tezpur Ram Prasad Sarmah on Saturday announced that he has quit the saffron fold and alleged neglect of old workers by "new intruders in the party" Sarmah said he was resigning from the primary membership of the BJP after serving the RSS and VHP for 15 years and the BJP for 29 years.

"I have left BJP today. I really feel pained in my heart for those old BJP workers of Assam who are most neglected in the party by the new intruders in the party," he said in a Facebook post.

Sarmah's name was not included in the party's panel of a probable candidate for Tezpur Lok Sabha seat. It only had the name of Assam minister and NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma.

BJP Veteran Devi Singh Bhati Submitted Resignation

"I've resigned due to anti-party activities of Bikaner MP, Arjun Ram Meghwal. I told about this to all senior party leaders but it seems they have made up their mind to give him the ticket again,” said Devi Singh Bhati.

Gujarat’s Patidar leader, Hardik Patel Joined Congress

Hardik Patel, who led a movement for reservation in government jobs and education for Patidars in Gujarat, joined the Congress party in presence of its president Rahul Gandhi.

Justifying his decision to enter active politics ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, Patel said he could now work for the six crore people of Gujarat in a better way.
