Cow vigilantes strike again, and this time in Jharkhand.

The house of Usman Ansari in the Beria Hatiatand village around 200km from Ranchi was attacked by a mob with heavy stone pelting and was set on fire after a dead cow was recovered from near the home. Ansari himself was also beaten up.

By the time the police arrived on the location, Ansari had already been beaten up and a part of his house was on fire.

When the police tried to take him to the hospital, there was resistance from the crowd. There was heavy stone-pelting. We had to open fire in the air”.

“The mob was highly charged and nearly 50 of our men sustained injuries in the stone-pelting. The situation has been brought under control,” added Mullik.

Incidents of cow vigilantism have been on the rise, especially since the incident in Alwar, Rajasthan where a Muslim man was lynched for transporting cattle that he had legally bought.
