Honeypreet Masterminded Panchkula Violence, Sanctioning Rs 1.25 Crore, Reveal Dera Men

Close confidante and adopted daughter of convicted Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, Honeypreet Insan was finally arrested on October 3 on charges of rioting and sedition after more than a month of absconding.

Even in interrogation, Honeypreet is reportedly still not cooperating but other 5 other Dera Sacha Sauda supporters in police custody have claimed that Honeypreet was the mastermind behind the violence that took place in Panchkula the day former Dera chief Ram Rahim was convicted on August 28. In the violence that spread across Haryana, Punjab and parts of Delhi, 38 people were killed.

One of the arrested Dera supporters, Dan Singh, revealed that Honeypreet had called for a meeting at the Dera Sacha Sauda Sirsa headquarters on August 17 to plan in advance for Ram Rahim's court date on August 25 where he would be charged with raping two female disciples. Singh also revealed that Honeypreet had sanctioned Rs 1.25 crore to be moved to Panchkula ahead of the court hearing.

Honeypreet had given a television interview the same day she was later arrested, during which she insisted on her innocence on the charges against her, claiming that she had disappeared due to depression. Regarding the charges of rioting, Honeypreet said that she was too 'upset' on the day of conviction to have planned anything.

Sent to a police remand for 6 days, Honeypreet also complained of depression after her arrest and is said to not be cooperating with the police. During police interrogation as well, she denied the charges of masterminding the riots as well as denying trying to run away from the police. She remained silent on several questions as well.  

“Honeypreet is not fully cooperating with the police. We might have to opt for a narco test on her,” Chandigarh Police Commissioner AS Chawla said on Friday.
