As heavy rain swamps the roads of Mumbai, it has also brought good news for the Bollywood city.

According to official reports, the rain has provided additional water for the city’s supply, fueling the reservoirs with up to 40 percent of the annual consumption.

Official reports say that the lakes that supply water to the city currently have 5.37 lakh million liters of water. The quantity of water is 4 lakh million liters more, as compared to the water in these lakes in the previous years.

Mumbai needs a total of 14.36 lakh liters of water by the end of September in order to avoid water shortage.

Due to lack of water, the city witnessed water cuts for an entire year in 2015-16. Mumbai has an average requirement of 3,700 million liters of water.

The water in this lake is used to cater industrial needs in the Aarey colony instead of supplying drinking water. These lakes started overflowing amid the heavy rain in the city.
