Fire Breaks Out In Lalmati Slum Opposite Bandra Fire Station

A level-3 fire broke out in Lalmati slum opposite Bandra Fire Station on Tuesday in Mumbai and according to reports in media, zero casualties have been reported so far.

Gutted in the blaze were mostly small shanties owned by migrant labourers and poor people living on the margin of posh Bandra reclamation area. Reportedly, the cause is said to be a cylinder blast at one of the homes in the tightly-packed residential slum.

Speaking to media the disaster management cell of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that the incident took place at 11:50 am in Nargis Dutt Nagar slum, located opposite Bandra fire station in Bandra (West).

Further, the reports added, "A joint team of the fire brigade, ward staffers and Mumbai Police personnel have been mobilised to douse the flames."

According to the reports, the fire incident took place right opposite Bandra Fire Station and fire tenders were rushed immediately. 8 water tankers and 9 fire engines were rushed on the spot. In the fire-fighting operation, the wind speed was posing difficulties.
