Gushing out at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for betraying the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ (Grand Alliance) and joining hands with BJP, Lalu Yadav, on Thursday alleged that the JD(U) leader has ‘cheated the people of Bihar’.

As Nitish Kumar took the oath as the Chief Minister along with the new Deputy CM Sushil Modi, RJD leader Lalu Yadav said, “Nitish Kumar has cheated the people of Bihar. I charge that he (Nitish Kumar) colluded with BJP to file CBI cases against me and my family.”

“Everything was fixed,” he added, “He is a very big opportunist. The mandate we got was against the BJP and the RSS. We jointly made them return empty handed from Bihar (during the 2015 Assembly election).”

He said the BJP leader Sushil Modi, was tasked to run a campaign to damage the image of his family members.

He claimed, “When I was facing allegations, Nitish Kumar never called me or showed any sympathy. Friends are known to be sympathetic during tough times, but Nitish Kumar never paid heed towards me.”

Lalu Yadav also lashed out at the governor of Bihar for asking the JD(U) to form government even though RJD was the largest party in the state.

He said, “We're considering to appeal in Supreme court against governor's decision. We are taking legal advice and will move court after that.”

“I made him Chief Minister”, Lalu said disdainfully, “despite my party being the single biggest party in the state.” “I was not selfish”, he said.

Lalu Prasad's remarks came as Nitish Kumar and Sushil Kumar Modi took the oath as Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of a JD-U-BJP alliance government in Bihar.

On Wednesday evening, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar had resigned from his position amid the political crisis in the Bihar government alliance as RJD stood their ground to denying the Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav’s resignation after corruption allegations on him.
