A day after the CBI raided the residence of Lalu Yadav and his family, the Enforcement Directorate has raided the residence of RJD Chief’s daughter, Misa Bharti in alleged money laundering.

The raids came as a development in the alleged money laundering case against Mrs Bharti and her husband Shailesh Kumar. The allegations are that they acquired benami or proxy ownership of land at throwaway rates.

The raid on Mrs Bharti’s house comes a day after the CBI raided Lalu Yadav’s residence along with his wife and son and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav’s house. The CBI on Friday filed a corruption case against RJD leader Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri and son Tejashwi Yadav, for alleged irregularities in leasing two railway hotels to a private company back when he was the Railways Minister from 2004-2009.

Allegedly, Mrs Bharti and her husband Shailesh Kumar have links with Ms Mishail Packers and Printers Private Limited, a private firm which is suspected of dealing benami lands in Delhi's Bijwasan area.

The Bihar senior leader on Friday had dismissed the charges against him saying that no wrongs were done in tendering during his tenure.

The RJD Chief said, “The raids were done to insult and humiliate me. The ruling party wants to strike down the opposition by sending CBI, IT departments, by incarcerating anyone who speaks out against them.” Hitting out at the BJP Prime Minister, Lalu Yadav also added that 'It is a conspiracy' against him and his family.
