In another blow to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RDJ), the Enforcement Directorate has registered a money laundering case against the RJD Chief Lalu Yadav and his family members.

The ED on Thursday registered a money laundering case against the Lalu Yadav in the railway hotel allotment corruption case.

ED’s case comes a day after the Nitish Kumar resigned as Bihar Chief Minister breaking the alliance in Bihar to join forces with BJP.

The past month has been a tough time for the RJD and its leader. Be it the CBI raids on his and his family’s residence or losing power in Bihar with BJP-JDU. Everything seems to be going against the RJD leader.

Let’s take a step back and recap everything that has happened so far.

It all started on July 7, as the CBI filed a corruption case against the RJD leader Lalu Yadav and his family and carried out several raids on their residences. Lalu Yadav was charged for allegedly granting illegal favours to Sujata Hotels through IRCTC (Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation) during his tenure as the Railway Minister between 2004 and 2009.

The CBI had carried out multiple raids over a dozen locations, including the Delhi, Gurugram, Patna, Ranchi and Bhubaneswar residences of Lalu and his family members.

Just a day after, the Enforcement Directorate filed a money laundering case against Lalu Yadav’s daughter Misa Bharti and raided their residences for allegedly acquiring benami or proxy ownership of land at throwaway rates.

Meanwhile, the CBI case expanded over to Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, and demands of his resignation surfaced. However, the RJD clearly rejected from letting the Deputy CM resign.

In another blow, the central government withdrew Lalu Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi’s tarmac access for their vehicle. According to this RJD leader, Lalu Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi will no longer be able to drive directly up to their aircraft at Patna airport.

Lalu Yadav has claimed that the BJP is conspiring against him and his family and are trying to break the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ (Grand Alliance) that is keeping the party out of Bihar and can prove to be a rival in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
