The transfer order comes as a punishment for D. Roopa for allegedly leaking her report on irregularities in the Bengaluru Central Jail. Her report made a huge splash in the media and politics alleging that AIADMK General Secretary V K Sasikala, who was also a close aide of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, was enjoying VIP treatment in the Bengaluru jail for a Rs 2 crore bribe.

Sasikala is currently serving her four years jail term after she was convicted in a bribery case of disproportionate assets case that also involved the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
