Despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee condemning acts of violence carried out in the name of protecting cows, attacks by cow vigilantes continue.

In Nagpur, Maharashtra 40-year-old Ismail Shah was traveling by his two-wheeler when a four-member gang stopped him and alleged that he was carrying beef. Shah kept insisting that the meat was not beef, but the vigilantes did not listen to him and began beating Shah viciously. Other onlookers were also there, and nobody intervened but a video was made of the incident.

According to reports, the incident has been reported and a case has been registered by the Nagpur police. Four people have been detained for interrogation.

Mob lynchings have become a disturbing reality as cow vigilantes take it upon themselves to mete out 'justice' to those even slightly accused of harming cows. From the Alwar man who was lynched for legally transporting cattle to 16-year-old Junaid who was stabbed to death for allegedly carrying beef, the casualties due to vigilante acts continue to rise.
