The Congress party on Wednesday announced that it would observe May 26 as Vishwasghat Diwas (Betrayal Day) to mark the completion of four years of Narendra Modi Government in the Centre.

Speaking at a Press Conference, AICC General Secretary Ashok Gehlot said, “Four years ago Modi Govt came in power with absolute majority. For the first time in 30 years, a government got a full majority. People had huge expectations from Modi Ji, promises were made and people believed the Government. However, the Government betrayed the people every year.”

Gehlot accused the Government of wasting taxpayer money. He said the way this government was using public money for the annual celebration of their Government formation was unprecedented. Not just the Centre, but BJP ruled state Governments too waste public money on these illogical celebrations and splendor.

“They forget that when we become CM or PM, we become the trustee of people’s money. We have no right to waste it.”

Condemning the Government on the steep hike in the prices of petrol and diesel Gehlot said that while the common man was suffering, Government did not have an iota of concern.

He said the BJP Government was looting from the pockets of common man.

Questioning the Prime Minister on corruption, Gehlot said that one hand PM talks against corruption and on the other hand we see BJP spending huge amounts of money during elections, they bought land and constructed huge buildings before demonetisation. Where did they get the money from?”

On 26 May, BJP Government will complete 4 years. We will do press conferences and protest demonstrations in all districts and state capitals across the country.
