The BJP on Wednesday termed a purported 32-page Congress dossier that lists burning issues in the country to attack the government, as a “dossier of disruption” aimed to divide the country into communal lines and disrupt the Parliament session.
The Congress, in turn, accused the BJP of circulating "fake" documents to some news channels to discredit the party.
A dossier was prepared by the research department of the Congress which includes all of the controversial public issues including demonetisation, GST and lynching by gaurakshaks, in order to attack the central leadership of misleading the country.
The BJP and Congress got into conflict on Wednesday when the dossier was circulated by the party. Congress has prepared the dossier to corner the BJP in the ongoing monsoon session.
On this, the BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “The document reeks of conspiracy because if you look at the priorities, the devil lies in the detail. Their priority is to draw politics out of lynching, mob violence and cow vigilantism.”
Addressing the media, Patra said, “The Congress party is today trying to disrupt Parliament. The first 5-6 issues in the Congress document are those which would spread divide in the country in the name of religion and caste. We would like to call this document a dossier of disruption. A conspiracy is being hatched and documents are being prepared in a planned manner.”
The 32-pages dossier lists several issues to raise in the Parliament’s ongoing session. It puts 'mob violence and lynching - from Akhlaq to Junaid' and UP CM Yogi Adityanath's role in fanning communalism and cow vigilantism in the state at the top most priorities of the party.
Patra, however, says, “The irony is while Modiji is sweating it out day in and day out to see to it that India moves ahead, we have the Congress party which is conspiring to work against this very development, conspiring not to allow the Parliament to function.”
Patra added that “We believe in democracy, debate, discussions and that issues of importance should be raised on the floor of the House”.
"The PM has been extremely critical as far as cow vigilantism is concerned and condemned it thrice, yet the Congress wants to divide the country based on communal polarisation,” He added.
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy told a media outlet, that “Economic and development issues rank lower in order in the Congress dossier because it will expose the UPA regime – when development was poor and marred with corruption and scams.”
AICC spokesperson Randeep Surjewala also responded to the heavy allegation by the BJP leaders saying, “BJP is trying to circulate false news in the media by contorting the facts. AICC Research Department lists important issues before every Parliament session. The Congress, as a responsible Opposition, raises these important and burning issues in Parliament.”
He said, “We don’t want to disrupt the workings of the Parliament but we’ll take up all the burning issues and ensure that the government should be made accountable for all its mistakes.”
