In the wake of NIA's suggestion to block trade across the LoC (Line of Control) in Jammu and Kashmir to prevent money transfers for funding terror activities in India, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has instead called for opening all routes to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) to let 'caged Kashmiris free'.

As the government lockdown on terror funding continues and separatist leaders are arrested for their involvement in terror funding activities, NIA advised blocking trade cross the LoC as funds reportedly entered India under the mask of trade.

However, according to CM Mehbooba, the routes can't be blocked as it will lead to "dangerous situation" in Kashmir.

"My father has been saying that Kashmiris have been caged. Free Kashmiris, Mufti Sahib would always say," she said.

Maintaining that trade routes with Pakistan should not be blocked, CM Mehbooba said that "instead, there should be crackdown on drugs and Cannabis which are smuggled from across the border."

Adding that she would not allow the centre to shut down the Uri-Muzaffarabad trade route, CM Mehbooba suggested regular tours be launched across the dividing line for students, professionals, and other groups to know each other better.
