Another Manjhi, Chhattisgarh Man Spends 27-Years Digging Pond, Ends Village's Water Crisis

After the mountain man Dashrath Sitara took away India's heart with his sheer determination to make way through a mountain after losing his wife because of it. A similar story has surfaced in Chhattisgarh's Koriya district.

A man, from Saja Pahad village ended the water shortage in his village digging a pond.

Shyam Lal started digging the lake when he was just a 15-year-old young boy. He spent 27-years of his youth digging the pond in his village.

As it happens, he was also ridiculed, made fun of and taken for a fool. However, his dedication to the cause was firm and unhindering. He continues and there came a time when people stopped making fun of him.

In his 27-years, he dug up one-acre of land 15-feet deep ending the water issues of the entire village, and now the crazy man who no one believed in, is their hero.

The now 42-year-old man, is also proud of his achievement. Talking to a media outlet he said, "No one helped me in my work, neither the administration nor the villagers."

The representative of Mahendargarh constituency Shyam Bihari Jaiswal also recently visited the pond and gifted Rs 10,000 to Shyal Lal for his achievement. Other government officials are also coming forward in Lal's support now.

Finally, his 27-years of hard work and dedication has resulted into someting.
