Ceasefire Violation By Pakistan In Nowgam As One Jawan Dies

An army jawan was martyred as Pakistan violated ceasefire yet again.

"The soldier was killed after being hit by a sniper fire from Pakistan side of the LoC," a defence source said.

This is the second time that a soldier has died in cross border firing in two days.

Yesterday, another security personnel and a child were killed when Pakistan violated cease fire at forward posts and civilian areas in Rajouri district. In Uri, a soldier and two civilians were injured during heavy exchange of fire with Pakistan.

"The Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatic weapons and mortars from 0645 hours in the Bhimbher Gali (Rajouri) and Poonch sectors along the Line of Control," the Defence spokesperson said.

The Indian Army is retaliating strongly and effectively, he said.

In Rajouri district, firing started at 7:30 AM and continued till 3:30 PM on Monday. In Pooch, Pakistan violated ceasefire violation for the second time in 24 hours. While speaking to news agency ANI, the District Collector of Rajouri informed that in total two civilians have been injured. On Monday, a soldier was injured in ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Uri sector.
