CCTV Footage Proof From 5 Cams Recovered In Chandigarh Stalker Case [WATCH]

The Haryana state police recently confirmed that they have CCTV footage from 5 cameras recording the stalking of an IAS officer's daughter by the son of Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala, rejecting speculation that they were politically pressured to cover-up the incident.

Varnika Kundu, the daughter of a Haryana bureaucrat alleged Vikas Barala and his friend of stalking and trying to kidnap her in Chandigarh.

"Chandigarh police has retrieved footage of five CCTV cameras on the route capturing the chase of the victim's vehicle by the alleged vehicle," senior officer Satish Kumar said to media.

In a Facebook post that has gone viral, Varnika claimed that the men blocked her way, banged on her windows and even tried to force the door open, but luckily she called the police who arrived in time to arrest the accused.

Vikas Barala and his friend were bailed out within hours as the charges against them were bailable.

Speaking to media, Varnika said that after being caught, the two accused claimed: "it was a mistake".

"A mistake happens once...not for kilometres...Cops shouldn't have to come and stop you," she said.

The issue was soon politicised and the opposition called for the resignation of Haryana's BJP chief, however, party sources rejected any chance of resignation of Barala.

"The case has nothing to do with him," said party sources.

Actress and BJP MP from Chandigarh Kirron Kher assured that "There is no watering down of the case. I have been assured that the CCTV footage will be safe and the police will act."
