Delhi minister Satyendra Jain's residence was raised by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday over the alleged violation in the hiring of a creative team by the Public Works Department. The agency also raided homes of some PWD officials.

Aam Aadmi Party leader holds the PWD portfolio among others in the Delhi cabinet. CBI has filed a case against Jain in connection with alleged violation of norms in hiring architects for the PWD along with SK Srivastava, a former chief engineer of PWD.

Reports suggest that the CBI had initiated a preliminary enquiry into the hiring of 24 architects for a creative wing of the PWD through an agency without any prior experience last year. However, Jain's tweet suggested that "Professionals were hired for different projects."

Following the raid, the AAP leaders were enraged. Reacting to Jain's tweet, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal asked, "What does PM Modi want?" whereas his Deputy Manish Sisodia claimed that NITI Aayog had cleared the creative teams and these acts won't stop Aam Aadmi Party.

Sisodia further expressed his doubts about the raid having a connection with the draft policy he announced two days back to keep a check on charges levied by private hospitals, given that Jain is also the minister of health Power, Health and Family development of the state.

Earlier on Monday, the CBI had closed a corruption case against Satyendra Jain related to the hiring of his daughter for Mohalla Clinic.
