Bulandshahr Violence: Bajrang Dal's Yogesh Raj, Main Accused, Arrested

Bajrang Dal activist Yogesh Raj, the main accused in the Bulandshahr violence case in which a cop and a youth had died last month was arrested by the police on Thursday.

As per the media reports, he had been arrested from Bulandshahr’s Khusbha and is a District coordinator for Bajrang Dal. The police will probe him and seek details out of him. He will later in the day presented before the court.

On December 3, 2018, a mob had gathered at Changravati Police Chowki in Bulandshahr district to protest illegal cow slaughter after cow carcasses were discovered in a field. The protesters pelted stones and set several motorcycles on fire. Inspector Subodh Kumar and 20-year-old Sumit died in the incident.

Raj, with his associates, had lodged an FIR claiming that they saw seven people slaughtering cows when they were roaming in the fields. The FIR was lodged against seven people, including minors, under IPC section 295 at Siyana police station.

The police had earlier arrested one Prashant Natt who was accused of killing Inspector Subodh and one more suspect, Kalua after he was seen in videos of the incident, which was corroborated with testimonies of other accused and technical evidence.
