Following a rapid exodus of Gujarat Congress MLAs after Congress leader Shankarsinh Vaghela left the party, national spokesperson of the Congress and Gujarat MLA Shaktisinh Gohil has claimed that BJP offered Rs 15 crore to each MLA, a party ticket in Gujarat polls and funds to contest.

"The BJP has resorted to low-level politics and is using money, muscle and state machinery to win polls," said Gohil.

"We've unanimously decided to stand by the party, and not allow BJP murder democracy," he added.

MLA of Dahegam in Gandhinagar Kaminiben B Rathore alleged that she had received the offer of Rs 15 crore from the BJP but had rejected it.

In the wake of several Gujarat Congress legislators resigning, and 3 of them joining BJP, 44 Gujarat Congress MLAs were taken to a luxury resort in Bengaluru on July 28 where 42 MLAs continue to remain.

As rumours prevail that the Gujarat Congress MLAs were taken to Bengaluru to prevent them from switching parties, Gohil claims that the MLAs went to Bengaluru as they 'feared for their lives'.

"The MLAs were scared that they would be abducted or killed since it was matter of few votes," said Shaktisinh Gohil.

"So we felt we will get security in Bengaluru since it is a Congress government," he said.

Elections are to take place in Gujarat for three Rajya Sabha seats.
