Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind has been decided upon as NDA’s presidential nominee. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Parliamentary Board on Monday narrowed down on their candidate for the upcoming Presidential elections.

Ram Nath Kovind is a former President of the BJP Dalit Morcha (1998-2002) and President of the All-India Koli Samaj. He is an advocate by profession and practices in Delhi.

The meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had senior party leaders Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu and Sushma Swaraj on the panel.

BJP chief Amit Shah likely announced the name of NDA candidate for the presidential candidate.

Kovind was general secretary of the UP BJP during the 2014 elections where he closely worked with party chief Amit Shah. Sources told News18 that his comfortable relationship with PM Narendra Modi was one of the prime reasons why Kovind was made Bihar governor before the elections. Since his appointment, despite doubts raised by chief minister Nitish Kumar, there have been no reports of any discord between the CM and Kovind.
