The family of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee have set an ideal example. His family has refused to take governmental facilities and perks.

The family said that they are capable of raising their own expenses. That is why they do not want to burden the government.

Late PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s foster daughter Namita Bhattacharya wrote a letter to the PMO conveying the family’s wish to give up the Krishna Menon Marg bungalow allotted to Vajpayee and shift to their private residence.

She also requested withdrawal of her SPG cover even though the law entitles former PMs and their immediate family members to protection by the elite force based on their threat level which is assessed every year.

Vajpayee's family has his adopted daughter Namita, son-in-law Ranjan Bhattacharya, granddaughter Niharika and other members.

This family was living in Vajpayee's official residence on Krishna Menon Road in Lutyens Zone, Delhi. However, now the family has decided to leave this house.
