BJP MP Nepal Singh sparked a controversy when he said that army men dying was a daily instance and that army personnel are killed in all countries. The words of the Rampur MP were taken as an insult against the brave jawans of the nation, especially after the recent attack on a CRPF camp in Pulwama that resulted in 5 CRPF jawans getting killed. Nepal Singh later issued an apology of sorts, saying that his words had been taken in the wrong sense.

"They die every day in the Army. Is there a country in which Army personnel don’t get killed in a fight?" Singh said.

"When there is a scuffle in a village, someone is bound to get injured. Tell me one device that can help in saving lives. Say any such device that can make the bullets ineffective and we will get that implemented," he said, in response to a question on the recent attacks on security forces.

The BJP MP later issued an apology for his statements.

"I was saying that the scientists are trying to discover any device that can help safeguard the lives of the soldiers," Singh clarified.

The CRPF camp attack was claimed by the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed militant group, likely as retribution for the murder of its commander Noor Mohammad Tantray by Indian forces. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday condemned the attack on the CRPF camp.

"The attack on a CRPF camp in Kashmir was a cowardly attack by terrorists. The sacrifice of our jawans won`t go in vain," he said.

"The entire nation stands with their families. We are proud of our brave jawans who lost their lives in the fighting back the terrorists", Singh added.
