Are You A Virgin? This Patna Govt. Hospital Is Asking New Joinees!

It's common for joining applications to ask marital statuses, however, this Government hospital in Patna is taking it to another level asking their new joinees whether they are virgin or not.

The query came under scrutiny when a women activist groups terming it 'outrageous'.

Hospital Superintendent Manish Mandal, on the other hand, agreed that this line of questioning can be uncomfortable but claimed that the hospital was just following the common format received by the central government.

However, he fuel another controversy saying the disclosure of one's virginity status can prove to be helpful in case of rape instance in the future, but the Superintendent did not explain his statement.

Health Minister of Bihar, Mangal Pandey has instructed the hospital to look into the matter.

In the form, the applicant has three options to choose from.

  1. I am a 'bechelor'/widower/Virgin
  2. I am married and have only one wife living
  3. I am married to a person who has no other wife living/ I am married to a person who has another wife living.

Suman Lal, Social activist in Bihar has demands the hospital to remove the query from the list threatening an agitation otherwise.
