A 15-year-old Dalit girl, hailing from Kurukshetra in Haryana, was found half-naked, dead, on the banks of a water channel in the state's Jind district on Saturday evening. The medical examination of the girl revealed chilling details of the brutality she had faced, similar to those undergone by Delhi's 'Nirbhaya' who succumbed to the injuries she suffered in a brutal gangrape in December 2012.

According to reports, the girl, a Class 10 student, was the daughter of a tailor in a village of Kurukshetra and had gone missing along with a 20-year-old man, whom her family accused of abducting her. She was gangraped raped by 3-4 assailants, and her body was brutalised causing massive internal injuries.

The head of the PGIMS Rohtak Forensic department Dr S K Dattarwal termed the extent of the injuries of the girl 'horrific'.

"In all, her body had 19 injuries — largely on face, head, chest and hands. Her lungs were ruptured, suggesting someone might have sat on her chest," the doctor said.

"The body had many injury marks, private parts were mutilated and there were lot of internal injuries. Signs of sexual assault are visible and looks like 3-4 people were responsible, a hard and blunt thing was inserted inside her, signs of drowning also found," said Dr SK Dattarwal.

"At the same time, water was found from her body. Her body parts were badly damaged, suggesting both unnatural act and gang rape," he said.

"The girl was subjected to immense brutality. We have asked the police to provide us the scene of the crime report and photographs of the spot for confirmations," Dr SK Dattarwal added.

Father of the victim called for justice, saying that such an incident should never have happened.

"My daughter was kidnapped and raped, culprits should be punished, we want justice for her. If administration had done its job well, an incident like this would have never happened," the father of the victim said.

An FIR has been registered under section 302 of the IPC, Deputy SP Kaptan Singh confirmed.

Facing the heat over the law and order situation in the state, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar updated on Sunday that one person has been identified in the Kurukshetra rape case.

Congress slammed the sudden increase in rape cases in Haryana, terming it the new 'Rape capital' of India.
