5-Year-Old Girl, Soldier Killed In Pakistani Shooting Along LoC

In the recent firing by Pakistani troops along the border at Jammu and Kashmir, a soldier and a 5-year-old girl were killed on Monday morning. Two other civilians were also injured in the firing in the Poonch district.

Following the incident, India has issued a strong warning to Pakistan, as the top military commander made it clear that the army "reserved the right to retaliate appropriately" to ceasefire violations.

The little girl, identified as Saida, a resident of Balakote in Poonch district died when she was hit by a Pakistani shell.

Meanwhile, the soldier Mudasir Ahmad was killed in firing in the Rajouri district when mortar shells landed in his bunker in the early morning. The father of two was a brave and sincere soldier who
"loved his job to the core", the army said.

According to an official statement, India's Director General of Military Operations Lt General AK Bhatt spoke with his Pakistani counterpart and, "Made it implicit that Indian Army reserved the right to retaliate appropriately to any incident of violation of ceasefire but is sincere in its effort of maintaining peace and tranquillity along the Line of Control provided there was reciprocity."

The recent attack comes in the wake of Pakistan army allegations that Indian shelling at the LoC resulted in the death of 4 Pakistani soldiers after their vehicle fell into a river after being shot.
