3 Militants Killed As 24-Hour Encounter Ends In Kashmir's Pulwama

A total of 3 militants have been killed as the 24-hour encounter in the Bahmnoo village of Pulwama district in south Kashmir came to an end on Tuesday. Two security force members, an Army major and CRPF personnel were injured in the encounter but are said to be in stable condition.

On Monday, security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in Pulwama district following information of militants in the area. While the two militants were killed on Monday, the third militant was killed on Tuesday morning after Para commandos were brought in.

According to reports, locals pelted stones on the security forces which helped the militants to escape. The forces were forced to respond with tear gas and pellets, injuring at least 35, who were immediately rushed to the hospital.

The two militants killed on Monday were identified as Kifayat and Jehangir Khanday and allegedly belong to the militant group led by Zakir Musa, a former Hizbul commandant.
