The bodies of 14 people, including 4 minors have been recovered from a massive landslide in the Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and other agencies continue to search for more survivors that may have been trapped.

"They have recovered all the fourteen bodies including ten females and four males from the rubble," Inspector General of Police in-charge Law and Order, Nabin Payeng said.

All the 14 victims belonged to one single family.

Papum Pare district has been the worst-affected where incessant monsoon rains have disrupted road communication due to landslides.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu visited the landslide-hit area in Laptop personally to take stock of the ground situation and handed over Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of the victims as immediate relief on behalf of the state government, supplementing the amount with Rs 30 lakh from his personal means.

As the Sagalee area has become completely cut off from other areas over the past several days due to massive landslides, CM Khandu said that relief and rescue operations are underway for stranded persons. Rations of 20 quintals were supplied to Sagalee by air to meet the requirements.

An Advanced Light Helicopter of the Indian Air Force engaged in flood rescue mission had crashed in the district on July 4, killing all four people on-board.
