Congress president Rahul Gandhi addressed a rally in Himachal's Kangra on Thursday to begin his party’s campaign for the Lok Sabha election due in April-May.

Earlier, in the day, the Congress president also addressed a rally in Punjab's Mogra.

Addressing the rally in Himachal Pradesh, the Congress Chief said, "On one side there is anger and hatred, on the other side there is Congress. You will be the winner."

"Congress will take all the four Lok Sabha seats in Himachal. Congress thanks you for fighting for our ideology and facing lathis, says Rahul Gandhi," Rahul said.

Slamming the BJP Government, Rahul said, "When Pulwama happened & action was ongoing with Pak, I held a PC & said that Congress & all its leader & workers are standing with IAF & Govt."

"We made it clear we'll not politicise it but it's sad that when the opposition was standing with Govt, PM was politicising it," he added.

He also announced that he will give martyr status to all security men who sacrifice their lives for the country.

Speaking on the Rafale controversy, Rahul said, “Rafale was the biggest defence contract in the world, PM Modi changed the contract on his own.”

"PM Modi gave a contract of Rs 30,000 crore to Anil Ambani, " he added.

The Congress chief further said, "PM Modi promised special package to Himachal. Congress has waived off farmers’ loans in MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. But the Centre has waived off loans of 15 big industrialists, but not of farmers."

Targeting BJP over demonetisation, Rahul said, "Only poor stood in line at banks, not rich people, during demonetisation. The money went to banks and from banks, it went to these rich people’s pockets."

"Unemployment is highest in 40 years. Imposed GST at midnight. Ask any small trader if GST helped them. GST helped the rich businessmen. We will change GST structure," Rahul added.
