History of Fathers Day isn't even a century old thanks to the lady knows as Ms Sonora Louise Smart Dodd of Washington. Her hard work and struggle is what can be accounted for the day recognised to give a heartful thank you to the dads across the world.

The idea of Father's Day came in the mind of Dodd on a day in 1909 when she heard a Mothers Day sermon. Sonora was a mature 27-year-old lady and she pondered over why a day isn't dedicated to the fathers as she loved hers so dearly that she felt an immediate need to have a day to honour the fathers for all their hard work and struggle too.

William Jackson Smart, a Civil War veteran happened to be Dodd's dad. Sonora's mother died while childbirth when she was just 16. Smart raised the newborn and five other children with love and care. Thus the unconditional love for her father.

So Sonora put in her efforts and made possible a day dedicated to thanking fathers thus giving the world a gift of Father's Day.

Also, many people across countries have been making efforts to allow a national holiday on the eve of Father's Day as it's too special and once in a year event that occurs for thanking our fathers for the countless things he has done for his kids throughout!

Father's Day has received amazing popularity over years now. The Eve is considered to be a secular one and is celebrated not just in the US but in countries around the world including Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Norway and India though on different dates.
