In this era of everything being fast, our food has also entered that category but have you ever looked into the darker side of it? Junk food not only disrupts the digestive system but also has a great impact on our performance and mood. Eating healthy on the other side not only keeps your system in good health but also is great when it comes to performance. But the question of how to cope up with a fast lifestyle and slow food still remains here.

As soon as we hear fast food an instant image of junk comes into our mind. People usually have this misconception that fast and healthy do not go together, but what if I tell you they do.  Healthy eating is nothing but eating right. It is not as rigid and fussy as people tend to think it is.

Here are few tips that can help with eating healthy and move towards a healthier life.

1) All food products do not contain all the nutrients that are required by our body so eating variety is the key here. Another factor for eating the variety is that not all that we eat is beneficial. So eating different types of foods will help your body to get the required nutrition.

2) Portions play a great deal in having a balanced diet. The fact that junk food is a part of our lives cannot be denied, so managing the portions comes to the rescue. Opt for smaller portions of junk food, no matter at what price you are getting a larger quantity; it will have a greater effect on your health.

3) Eating Whole grain products is advisable. 100% wheat grain products do not hamper your health and are also good in taste.

4) The colorful variety of vegetables is most beneficial. Maintain a system of 2000 calories and stick to it.  Almost all vegetables contain fiber and anti-oxidants at different levels, which helps the body to strengthen the immune system and keep the body healthy.

5) Do not over think about cholesterol. There are many misconceptions when it comes to eating healthy food and cholesterol is one of them. As long as you are eating healthy it will not be a problem. But those who want to cut it down can reduce meat intake and processed food products which are high cholesterol foods.

6) Vitamin supplements are not the supplement of real food.  Vitamin Supplements are good when some vitamins fall short in our bodies but food provides our bodies with synergy. Synergy helps our body in functioning properly. Supplements are not a replacement for food but it is there to compliment the food. So, have items that are rich in vitamins.

Healthy eating is not about leaving what you love to eat but about the balance that has to be maintained between both. Eat what you love in limited quantities and eat as healthy as possible. Various dishes can be made healthier by adding vegetables to them. When looking for a snack go for an apple instead of a bag of chips. Small steps in our daily life can lead to a greater impact on our health. So eat healthy and enjoy what you eat to have a healthy and active life!
