Diabetes Drug 'Actos' Not Linked To Bladder Cancer Risk, Claims New Study

patientDiabetes drug Actos was said to increase the chances bladder cancer risk. However, a new study slashed the previous study claiming that diabetes drug Actos does not raise the chances of bladder cancer and is safer than what was found earlier.

Actos is advised to those patients with advances cases of diabetes.

Researchers have found the connection between the drug and rise is pancreatic cancer risk but said it was too early to draw conclusion.

Kaiser Permanente Northern California's Assiamira Ferrara-led team conducted the research on 2,00,000 diabetes patients and found no association between drug and risk of bladder cancer.

Researchers found that inflammation is one of the biggest reasons for pancreatic cancer and chronic inflammation is commonly found in people suffering from diabetes.

The study was published in Journal of the American Medical Association.
