Decked up in their best, whether residents of West Bengal or Delhu, all are plunged into festivities and merriment as Monday marks the first day of Durga Puja. Chants of 'Jai Durga' and 'Bolo Durga Mai Ki Jai' reverberated across the state with every city, small town and village joining in the fervour as the five-day festival got off to an electrifying start. Festooned in lights and dotted with splendid marquees, the northern and eastern metropolis welcomed its patron goddess on Monday with the beats of dhaak (drums) and aroma of incense. Thousands of men, women and children, turned up in their best on the streets making rounds of different marquees. People already know where they have to head, but then there are some who are not aware of the pandals in their city. So, to help them we have come across a few pandals in Delhi to hop around.

One of the most popular and oldest pandals of Delhi, Kashmiri Gate Durga Puja pandal was started in 1910 and is officially called as the Delhi Durga Puja Samiti. You can witness the Pujo Pandal and Devi idol crafted in classical style. Here, the idol is crafted in traditional Daaker Saaj (one frame idol) and is decorated in silver and gold. This one is the most colourful Durga Puja Pandal, which  is maintained as per the religious norms. The pandal is a must-visit for folks who are fond of Dhunuchi Nach.
