To politicising accusation, Congress leader Ambika Soni reacted in a sharp manner and she took a pot shot at the SP government in Uttar Pradesh.
The house seemed to have turned into a battle ground between the women of three parties.
However, soon Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi stepped into the matter.
Naqvi said the ghastly incident, whether in Uttar Pradesh or any other part of the country, needs to be condemned in strongest terms and strictest action taken against culprits.
Maintaining that law and order is a state subject, he expressed hope that the UP government would act strongly in the case. “We are ready for discussion on women’s security. Please give notice, we will discuss it,” he said.
The shameful incident occurred on Friday night, a group of dacoits had waylaid a family travelling from Noida to Shahjahanpur by car, dragged the woman and her 14-year-old daughter out of the vehicle to a field, and raped them while the men were held at gunpoint.
