A day after Navjot Singh Sidhu quit BJP and Rajya Sabha, now cricketer-turned politician Kirti Azad's wife Poonam is expected to join Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Kirti Azad was suspended from BJP in 2015 for publicly targeting Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over corruption in the District Cricket Association (DDCA).
However, Azad has refused to confirm about his wife's decision.
"It's her decision. She is an independent woman and free to make her own choices. I have no right to comment on this since I am a suspended MP. Whatever she decides will be in the best interest of the nation," he said.
Though there are speculations that Navjot Kaur might quit the BJP, she denied resigning from the party on Tuesday.
"I think he (Sidhu) has very clearly suggested what he is going to do and in the coming days let him come out with this (his future plans). He has said that he wants to serve Punjab and there is no choice except serving from Aam Aadmi Party," Kaur, who is MLA from Amritsar-East constituency and is Chief Parliamentary Secretary (Health) in SAD-BJP Government, said.
