Rajya Sabha Ethics Committee on Wednesday recommended immediate expulsion of Indian liquor baron Vijay Mallya after his resignation was rejected on Tuesday.
"By taking such a stern action, a message would reach that Parliament is committed to take steps against erring members," the committee said today.
Vijay Mallya, whose passport has been revoked by the government, resigned from the Rajya Sabha on Monday.
Mallya, an Independent member from Karnataka, had sent his resignation to Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Hamid Ansari and to the ethics committee of the Rajya Sabha.
However, his resignation was rejected by Hamid Ansari on Tuesday citing procedural grounds.
