Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public rally at Manobha in poll bound Uttar Pradesh today.
"This Diwali, I have requested the citizens to dedicate message and a well wish for all our jawans & security forces. This land is special, it has shown calibre with sword & creativity with pen. But there were people here who cared a lot about themselves, but not for other people," Modi said.
"The farmers here have faced injustice. This land is capable of reaping gold, but farmers here get no water," he added.
"Earlier, I used to ask people from Bundelkhand in Gujarat if they were from UP or MP. They all used to say UP. then I stopped asking. Because then I realised that had these people been from MP they wouldn't have to come all the way to Gujarat for employment," Modi said.
"SP & BSP both loot in their own turns, and when the other comes to power they never take action against the other. The power keeps shifting, and in this game, this land never reached its potential. You have faced enough. If you want to escape this trap then you need to get out of this trap of SP & BSP," Modi added.
Talking about the coming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Narendra Modi said, "In the coming polls, the picture is very clear. Just like it was in LS polls of 2014. People gave full majority to BJP. This land of UP is our mother, and we won't let our mother be looted anymore. Money was provided to Bundelkhand for some projects, and yet no work was done here...you will be very sad to hear this. UP has given many PMs to the nation. UP has a claim on me as well. And I want to do more work than all those PMs put together".
Speaking over "talaq", Modi said, "I am surprised that for vote bank politics, some parties want to keep Muslim women bereft of their natural rights. Is it fair for a man to say "talaaq" thrice over the phone and a Muslim woman's life to be ruined? This issue shouldnt be politicised".
"I request people who participate in TV debates don't make women rights into Muslim Hindu issue.Women's right is a development issue. People from Uttar Pradesh will wait for UP this time, Delhi knows that UP has decided this. Please don’t make triple talaaq a political matter, let’s take proper measures to give equal rights to women as well," he also added.
