2 Killed, 3 Injured In Firing At TMC Councillor's Office In Kharagpur

C15M7pMUQAA7K4y Two People, including the husband of a councillor of Kharagpur Municipality, were killed as when gang of four people opened fire at them at Kharagpur in Midnapore West district on Wednesday, police said. Those dead were identified as 27-year-old Srinivas Naidu -- husband of councillor Pooja Naidu -- and 25-year-old Dharma Rao (25). Out of five people three including Rao and Naidu, were rushed to Kolkata, two were treated in Kharagpur after the incident. Naidu was declared dead when he was brought to a hospital in Kolkata. “They were shot in the head and chest,” said an official of the private hospital. The party workers were inside the office of ward 18 councillor A Puja at Nayakhuli locality when the miscreants hurled a bomb and fired indiscriminately. Five persons including Puja's husband Srinu Naidu were injured in the firing, police said. While Naidu and another injured were taken to a Kolkata hospital, the three others were admitted to Midnapore Medical College and Hospital. Investigation is on and no arrests have been made so far, police said. Tension prevailed in the area and a police picket has been posted there.
