External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is famous for extending help to Indians abroad, but when a Kashmiri student in the Philippines reached out to her on Thursday for help in renewing his passport, she had a lesson to give as well.

The student, identified as Sheikh Ateek on Twitter asked EAM Swaraj for help with his passport which got damaged, however, Swaraj had to point out that since Ateek's profile says that his residence is 'Indian Occupied Kashmir' which does not exist, she cannot help.

"Dear ma'am Sushma Swaraj I greatly need your help. Is there anything you can do to rush the process of my passport as it is damaged. I need to get back to my home, India. My health is deteriorating and I cannot shoulder the expenses anymore as I'm a student," tweeted the youth.

“If you are from J&K state, we will definitely help you. But your profile says you are from 'Indian occupied Kashmir'. There is no place like that,” Swaraj said in response.

In another tweet minutes later, Swaraj commended the student for correcting the residence in his profile and directed the Indian Embassy in the Philippines to help him.

“I am happy you have corrected the profile. Jaideep - He is an Indian national from J&K. Pls help him,” the minister said in her second tweet.
