Mallya Calls The Extradition Case A 'Witch Hunt', Says 'Not Missing India'

Vijay Mallya, the businessman fighting India’s high profile extradition request in $1.4 billion loan case, says he is not missing India.

In a recent interview with a news agency, the business tycoon said, “There's nothing to miss”, he went on to explain, “All my immediate family is either in England or the US. Nobody in India at all. As far as my step-siblings are concerned, they are all UK citizens. So there's nothing family-wise to miss.”

Vijay Mallya left India after the banks that lend him money $1.4 million went to court after he didn’t pay back. He went to the UK and has been living there ever since. Mr. Mallya however, has dismissed the charges against him saying, “This witch hunt against me has been going on for a while.”

Recently, the Indian government approached the UK for Mallya’s extradition. Mallya on the case in UK’ court said, “I have done absolutely nothing wrong. In fact, I am glad that it is finally before a UK court and an impartial court. So we wait and see how it plays out."

The businessman has been enjoying himself in the US with horse racing at Royal Ascot, Wimbledon tennis championships, and Champions Trophy cricket. He is also the owner of a Formula One team that keeps him busy for the day.

Mallya’s extradition hearing is scheduled to from December 4 and he cannot leave the UK until the case is settled.
