Varun Dhawan Becomes The Remake King, To Star In New Version Of Salman Khan's 'Biwi No.1'

Karan Johar's student, Varun Khan has had a stellar year with the release of two blockbusters like Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya and Judwaa 2. The actor has wrapped the shooting of Shoojit Sircar's October as well which will hit the theatres on April 13, 2018.

After recreating the magical characters played by Salman Khan's 1997 release, Dhawan is all ready to reprise the superstar's character in the remake version of 'Biwi No 1' helmed by his original director David Dhawan.

The original comedy was a mega-hit in theatres and masses fell in love with Karisma Kapoor, the film's leading lady, all over again post watching her magical transformation in the film. Apart from the lead pair, 'Biwi No.1' also featured Sushmita Sen, Anil Kapoor, Tabu in supporting roles.

Varun is reportedly excited for the film's remake and will start shooting for the film next year after finishing Sharat Katariya's 'Sui Dhaaga: Made in India' also starring Anushka Sharma. The film goes on floors in February 2018.

A source stated, "The discussions are presently at a nascent stage. The Dhawans will start work on the film in the coming year. Biwi No.1 is one of Varun’s favourite films and he is excited to collaborate with his father once again. Shooting dates and casting of the leading ladies will begin once the final script is locked."

The story of 'Biwi No.1' revolves around a determined wife, played by Karisma Kapoor, who catches her husband (Salman Khan) red-handed during his affair with an aspiring model (Sushmita Sen) and decides to leave him. Later upon realisation, she makes him regret his actions and takes him back.
