Tabu To Play Sushma Swaraj In Film On 'Hindustan Ki Beti' Uzma Ahmed?

Reports have been abuzz about filmmaker Dhiraj Kumar making a film on Uzma Ahmed, and the turmoil she faced in Pakistan. Interestingly, the filmmaker has approached Tabu to play the role of the Sushma Swaraj in the film, while Parineeti Chopra is director's pick for the role of Uzma.

Uzma Ahmed’s story is about, how an Indian national was forced to marry Pakistani national Tahir Ali at gunpoint in Pakistan and the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's involvement to bring back 'Hindustan Ki Beti' helped her in getting out of the situation. Uzma returned home on May 25 this year.

According to reports, the film is currently in the scripting stage. Dhiraj Kumar met Uzma a couple of times, and she narrated what she endured, both sexual and physical abuse. Meeting Uzma would help Dhiraj to easily put on screen her story. Dhiraj Kumar’s story will focus on her struggle to break free and government’s role.  

For Dhiraj Kumar’s this upcoming, rumor mills are abuzz that Anil Kapoor might play Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh who aided Ahmed.

The filmmaker plans to begin shooting by November end this year and release the film in May 2018.
