Smriti Irani has finally taken action on the online petition against 'Pehredaar Piya Ki' and forwarded the same to Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC) for further course of action.

After 1.25 lakh signatures to the said petition, Smriti has finally forwarded the petition to BCCC and requested an action immediately. Although, a BCCC official confirmed about not getting an official complaint from the I & B office but due to the outrageous response pouring from all over the country for the show, the matter will be considered on August 16.

'Pehredaar Piya Ki' is a story of a 10-year-boy marrying a girl twice his age. The concept itself irked many viewers but the 'suhag raat' and honeymoon scenes in the show added fuel to the fire. The petition claims the shows content to be objectionable to be shown at prime time, especially and requested it to be banned.
