Noted for his valour and bravery, late Captain Vikram Batra is about to receive a well-deserved biopic made on his life. Karan Johar has confirmed the speculations about producing a film on the prestigious Param Vir Chakra recipient's life, known his heroics in 1999 Kargil War.

A firm believer of the saying that 'true stories are always the best stories to tell', Karan Johar announced the film on Kargil hero while revealing that none other than his 'serious' student Sidharth Malhotra has been roped in to play the courageous soul in his biopic titled 'Sher Shah'.

Karan Johar tweeted, "Time to relive-Yeh Dil Mangey More Dharma Production and Shabbir Boxwala collaborate to present the true story of bravery and patriotism - the chronicles of Kargil war hero Vikram Batra, Sidharth Malhotra in the lead as Sher Shah Vikram Batra, Vishnu Varadhan to direct, Written By Sandeep Shrivastava."

Sidharth Malhotra is super excited about the opportunity to portray Vikram Batra in the heroic story. Expressing his gratitude, the actor stated, "Vikram Batra’s life story will inspire you and bring a smile on your face. I am really excited to play the character and the shoot commences this year."

Helmed by Vishnu Varadhan, Sher Shah's story has been written by Sandeep Srivastava. Interestingly, the words used by Karan Johar while announcing the film 'Yeh dil mangey more' were the same words uttered by Vikram Batra while announcing battle victory in Kargil War.

While fighting in the Kargil War in June 1999 in Dras sub-sector Captain, Vikram Batra of 13 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles was instrumental in the capture of Point 5140 on the Tololing Ridge leading to Tiger Hill. In the subsequent operation of Point 4875, Batra lost his life.
