Ranbir Kapoor, the handsome hunk of Bollywood who will next be seen in upcoming flick Brahmastra opposite sizzling hot Alia Bhatt, is all set to play the double role in the upcoming dacoit drama Shamshera.
The latest reports suggest that Ranbir Kapoor will be playing the double role of the protagonist and his father for the first time in his Bollywood career. While we have often see the Kapoor lad dabble with urban roles, it would be interesting to watch Ranbir step out of his comfort zone for this flick.
A source told the media daily, “The film revolves around a dacoit tribe that is fighting for its rights and independence from the British Raj. Apart from playing the protagonist, Ranbir might also be seen as the central character’s father. He has been shooting for both roles simultaneously. This is the first time in his 12-year-long career so far that Ranbir will play a double role.”
Shamshera, directed by Karan Malhotra, reunites Ranbir with YRF after a hiatus of 12 years. The actor was last seen in a YRF venture in critically acclaimed film Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year in the year 2009. Shamshera also features Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt with Ranbir.
In the film, Vaani plays the role of a desirable and sought-after travelling performer. For the film, Vaani started getting trained in classical dance forms.
A source said, "Vaani needs to be proficient in several classical dancing styles to be able to pull off the choreography. She has been learning Kathak for the past few months to hone her dancing skills further. In fact, she has been practising for hours every day to perfect her moves and body postures."
Shamshera, produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films is expected to hit the screens in 2020 and is expected to clash with Ranbir's girlfriend Alia Bhatt's Telugu debut RRR.
