Dacoit dramas seem to be back in trend after years of being missing from the silver screen. Following the lead of Sushant Singh Rajput-starrer 'Sonchiriya', Yash Raj Films have announced their own Daku thriller titled 'Shamshera' starring Ranbir Kapoor as a scary dacoit.

Ranbir has already left the masses dizzy with his stunning transformation in the trailer of Sanjay Dutt's much-anticipated biopic 'Sanju' but his dacoit avatar is absolutely thrilling, taking the actor's credibility multiple notches higher than before.

Teasing the fans with a glimpse of Ranbir's never-seen-before persona, the makers released a mini video clip of 52-seconds along with the tagline, "Karam Se Dacait... Dharam Se Azaad." The first look has established that Karan Malhotra directorial is a period drama.

The actor has notably ditched his chocolate boy look for 'Shamshera', giving his admirers something to gush about. With his almost unrecognisable face married with multiple battle scars and an axe along with a quiver full of arrows in his hands, Ranbir is looking raw and deadly.

Talking about the film, Ranbir has earlier said, "Shamshera is exactly the film I was looking for. While growing up watching Hindi commercial cinema, I had an image of what a film hero should be doing. Shamshera allows me to do everything that I had imagined and it’s a very exciting project for me."

The actor is seemingly ready to take up the challenge as proved by the first look video. With determined army behind him and determination of taking every obstacle on his way, Ranbir Kapoor has absolutely nailed the quintessential Dacoit look, adding way more to it.

No specific release date has been mentioned for the action-adventure as YRF has put it. Apart from 'Shamshera', Ranbir Kapoor is awaiting the release of Rajkumar Hirani directorial 'Sanju' on June 29. He is currently shooting for 'Brahmastra' also starring Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan.
