In a warm gesture by Hollywood, legendary actors Sridevi and Shashi Kapoor were remembered at the 90th edition of prestigious Academy Awards on Sunday in the 'Memoriam' montage. Paying tribute to the much-loved artists of the film industry who breathed their last in the past year, Oscars specifically won over the Indians.

Remembering the renowned artists including former James Bond Sir Roger Moore, French star Jeanne Moreau, actor Martin Landau, actor and playwright Sam Shepard, and directors George Romero and Jonathan Demme for their heartfelt contribution to films, Eddie Vedder paid them a musical tribute by performing a Tom Petty song live.

Before calling Vedder to take up the stage, Jennifer Garner paid tribute to the late star Audrey Hepburn along with the lines, "There is no joy without sorrow." She introduced the segment for remembering the departed souls before letting the musical tunes engulf the present guests and audience in the magic of words.

Shashi Kapoor succumbed to his long-time illness in December last year at the age of 79 and left millions of his ardent followers heart-broken. Post starting his acting career at the age of four, Shashi went on to create a distinctive identity for himself as an actor and producer, not just in Bollywood but on the International platform as well.

Known as the first female Superstar of Bollywood, Sridevi's sudden demise at the age of 54 shocked and saddened the entire nation. The actress breathed her last in Dubai two weeks back due to accidental drowning in her hotel room's bathtub. Her impeccable contribution to multi-lingual films garnered her state honours before cremation.

The prestigious Awards also paid homage to the late actor Om Puri last year who died in January 2017 at the age of 66. The heart-warming gesture by the organisers of Academy was appreciated by the entire Hindi film fraternity, many members of which took their regards to Twitter while expressing their joy and gratitude.
