The shooting of Abhishek Varman's forthcoming film 'Kalank' which kick-started a few days back has come to an abrupt halt after two snakes were located by the crew near the location on Monday. Though the creatures were taken to jungle immediately, the shooting was stalled for an hour.

The incident took place when the most-loved Jodi of recent times- Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt were shooting for an intense sequence. The stellar ensemble cast also includes Madhuri Dixit, Kunal Khemu, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjay Dutt.

A close source revealed, "The actors are on a 45-day schedule, so the team is taking precautions to ensure everyone’s safety after this incident. On Monday afternoon, there was a lot of commotion on set because the snakes were huge, so the shoot came to an immediate halt."

The shooting, however, was restarted after ensuring that everyone was safe. Interestingly, a similar incident happened during the shoot of My Name Is Khan starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol on the same set. Abhishek Varman was apparently an assistant director for that film.

'Kalank' is notably Karan Johar's most ambitious project, which has been in pipeline for the past 15 years. The epic period drama produced by Fox Star Studios, Dharma Productions, and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment is slated to release on 19th April 2019.
