Vidya Balan's outstanding portrayal of sultry late night Radio Jockey in Tumhari Sulu gave the viewers many sleepless nights and garnered praises from all around the globe. The latest development suggests that Jyothika will step into Vidya's hallowed shoes.

Bollywood and South Indian cinema often create remakes of movies that have already been made by the other with their audience perspective. The latest addition to the long list is Tumhari Sulu, remake rights of which have been bought by the Chennai-based BOFTA Media Works India.

Basking in the success of her last released film Naachiyaar, Tamil Superstar Jyothika has taken up the challenge to reprise the titular role of Vidya's much-appreciated housewife-turned-night RJ who struggles to balance her personal and professional life after receiving instant success.

Jyothika will reportedly collaborate with Radha Mohan, the director of her career's most remembered musical film 'Mozhi' for the remake of Suresh Triveni directorial. The information was confirmed by the husband of Tamil actress, Suriya who expressed his delight on Twitter.

In a press statement released earlier on Wednesday, Jyothika who is a huge Vidya Balan fan admitted, "I feel honoured to be stepping into her shoes. Kudos to the producers and to Suresh (Triveni) for making such a lively, honest, real and feel-good film!"

Vidya Balan is also extremely pleased with the announcement of her film's Tamil remake. "As a Tamil ponnu (girl), I feel happy about our film being remade in Tamil. Tumhari Sulu is a hugely special film for me and I wish Jyotika all the best in spreading the Sulu love!" she said.

Radha Mohan inputted, "I am excited to be directing such an appreciated film like Tumhari Sulu, and starring Jyotika no less, with whom I had a great association in Mozhi. I was impressed with the realistic presentation of Tumhari Sulu and hope to recreate the magic in Tamil with Jyotika."

Renowned cinematographer Mahesh Muthuswami and editor Praveen KL have already been roped in for the project whereas the remaining cast and crew will be finalised soon. Tumhari Sulu revolves around the life of an ambitious housewife whose dedication changes her life for good.
