Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav on Friday has been sent to a 3-month period of civil prison by the Delhi High Court over non-payment of his loan amounting to a whopping Rs 5 crore.

It is learnt that the actor and his wife Radha had taken the money for his directorial venture 'Ata Pata Laapata' back in 2010.

Ata Pata Laapata released in 2012 and was a political satire. The movie marked the directorial debut of Rajpal Yadav who played the lead role in it as well. His wife Radha Yadav produced the venture.

The film starred veteran actor Asrani, Om Puri, Ashutosh Rana, Manoj Joshi, Govind Namdeo, Dara Singh, Vikram Gokhale, Vijay Raaz, and Satyadev Dubey among others.

The movie tanked at the Box Office and got bad reviews. The film hit the screens on November 2, 2012.

In 2013, Yadav had been remanded to 10 days of judicial custody for the same case. He had concealed facts in his version of the lawsuit filed against him by a Delhi-based entrepreneur, MG Agarwal.

The then-judge had also passed a contempt of court notice against the two women lawyers who were representing Yadav and Radha as well as the oath commissioner. The notice was issued as the submitted affidavit contained forged signatures of the couple.

Agarwal, who is the owner of Murli Projects, had filed the case when the actor and his wife could not pay back the loan.

The actor will next be seen in 'Total Dhamaal' which is an out-and-out comedy venture. It will release early in the year 2019.
